There is a sense of independence felt by most in this world
of the immediate. At our periphery we barely touch upon the
structure that supports our everyday existence. The current
social, political and economical situation of the developed
world has become so intertwined and reliant. However the
sense of individuality is inherent within us. There are multiple
edges at which we intersect with our neighbours.
Co-existence requires respect and understanding.
Through heavily worked surfaces and closely guarded
spacing these paintings attempt to illustrate the tension of
relationship within a cityscape. In this case, working with chance as a primarily
creative purpose, allows the work to be less intuitive in the
way a form develops within the abstract art. The influence of
mapping and satellite photography are prevalent. Subtle use
of colour and line produce a narrative told from the artists
perspective.
